Today, we went in search for the fabled "Water cooler than body
temperature" eschewing my usual springs and sinks for some tiny ponds
I used to know about. Wandering down deep sand roads in the scrub
woods in 100 degree heat, oh, that was the humidity, the temp was only
99. Finally the road ends so we take off on foot down ancient fire
trails scanning the ground for rattlers wishing to god I'd brought
some ice water to drink. AHHHHH, there it is, that tiny sand bottom
pond I remember from 30 years ago. Step in and..................WTF,
this water is effin HOT. Either we are getting some unusual N.
Florida vulcanism or I am remembering this wrong. Wade deeper,
ohhhhh, a serious thermocline. About knee deep, the water round my
feet finally get cool. In N. FL summer, you accept whatever cooling
you can get.
You want cold water??? ...better be careful what you wish for.
This American had an unfortunate encounter with cold north Atlantic water..
