Well, just got back in from the lake. *Came back in to the slip at
sundown, and since our slip is on the edge of the docks with a nice
view, we just sat there a while enjoying the view and water.

After about 40 minutes, I see a boat headed inward to the marina...
with nothing to show but the white anchor light. *No red or green
markers up front. *I walked aft and waited.

The guys are in a center console, 20+ footer, T-top, nice boat. *After
he's come down off plane at the no wakes and has idled up behind me, I
holler,"Hey! *Do you know your red and green bow markers are out?"

Silence, then a "Huh?"

I repeat my statement. *Then comes back, "Yeah, I know. *We just went
out for a little while."

Me: "Just wanted to make sure you know, so you can fix them!"

Silence. *Idiots.

Another reason Canada now has MANDATORY Licensing for Boaters, and
Cops on the water to enforce it. Idiots like you witnessed, are an
accident waiting to happen.

It is not really a license, it is a card hat says you took a basic course.

I think many US states do exactly the same thing.

Good thing about the lakes I tend go to, there are often enough hazards
that fools don't bother you for long.

The bigger government gets, the more it tends to rule out common sense.

I'd welcome SC requiring a basic boating course. *It's surprising how
many boaters don't seem to know the most basic "rules of the road"
when on the water.

I've had a bass boat running about 60mph approach from my left and
pass by within 30 feet of my bow. *I was traveling down the lake doing
about 30 at the time. *The guys glared at me as if I'd done something
wrong. *I'll bet nearly half the boaters will speed up and swing out
so they can pass in front of a boat that's to their right.- Hide quoted text -

A couple years ago, I saw somebody skiing, and they shot out quickly
to stall and get speed to cross the wake of the pull boat, and there
was a PWC coming from almost ehad on with the boat, that the tow rope
caught the PWC driver right across the chest and pulled him on the
craft.

fortunately nobody was hurt but that colud have qualified for "Darwins
deadliest catch."
