I see not much has happened differently in rec.boats since I left Fri
to head for Kansas. We just got back last night and to tired to head
for the lake today.

Thursday evening before we left I *went to three local cemeteries, and
decorated 13 of my family *mostly divided between ww1 and ww2 vets,
with one from the Spanish-American and one from the Civil War.

Then Friday morning we headed for Kansas. It may be the last time I
ever will go out to dress graves of my ancestors on my mom's side,
Long and tiresome, but it was a great trip, just the same.

Anyhow, I'm half way feeling back to normal again, so it's time to get
ready for the huge cookout. And before that, I might go do some work
on the 23' Marquis. decisions, decisions....

Anyway, enjoy the day .

Sounds like a lot of family history to be proud of Tim. Good of you to honor
those soldiers.- Hide quoted text -

Thanks. I have several family artifacts fro battles and conflicts from
the past. And I make sure that they're graves are decorated on each
Memorial Day. No brag on my part, but this year I also went around to
a lot of other local grave sites and layed out 64 flags. And that
didn't cover them all. Next year I'll probably set 0ut a hundred or
more.

Somebody needs to do it.

Very cool, Tim! *I'll donate next year. *Hit me up ahead of time.

What a good idea. Hit me too Tim.- Hide quoted text -

Thanks for the offer, guys. I can and don't mind handling the load my
self. The guys at the American Legion were kind of surprised to find
that the cemetaries had honors put out before they did. We have a
small local A.L. post, and they put out about a hundred flags
themselves and it doesn't cover near the amount needed. I talked with
the Commander this morning, and he said the smaller cemetaries were
really impressive to look at and they wer wondering who put the flags
out. I told him I did and had plans to do more for next year. It's
really not that much of a cost and I didn't mind it at all. He, on
behalf of the local post were grateful.

They've already pulled the flags for mowing etc, but they were willing
to sort mine from theirs and return them to me. I said to keep them
for future use, but that's the problem. They store them in a musty old
legion hall where even new flags get moldy.though not a member of the
Legion, I said I had a nice dry place to keep them if they wished me
to store them. They may take me up on my offer, and I'd feel honored
if they did.

But all in all guys, again I appreciate the offers, but it may be more
of a benefit if you made a donation for a flag fund with your local
Americal Legion or VFW.
