After a truly rough crossing from Lake Worth Inlet we arrived at West
End after only 13 hours. We had 3-6' steep waves even in 600' of
water for some reason. The Gulf stream was very strong and at times
we made only 3 kts. All 3 of us were seasick. The marina here has
very good wireless.
My daughter and her bf have only 7 days so I am leaning toward keeping
Ragtime somewhere in Freeport. Marsh Harbor might be a stretch for us
but we have to figure out what we want to do. Right now, none of us
want to go back across anytime soon.
Other boats at Lake Worth were supposed to be crossing but at 4:00 am
none of them were moving so we did it alone and were the smallest boat
we saw. The Coast Guard came by in a cutter and took all our info by
radio. I think it was just for training but maybe they thought we
were nuts to be crossing and wanted it "just in case".
Congrats, Froggie. Hopefully the naysayers will see that where there's a will
there's a way.
Good job. You did it. You can now legitimately brag about it.

Took bikes to "The Village" where the people who work at the marina in
West End live. They harvest cocnh and there are immense piles of
empty shells and signs forbidding dumping the shells.
Asked a guy beside the road for a restaurant and he sent us to
"Ellas", a tiny place with 4 tables. We had "cracked conch", immense
piles of lightlybreaded very tender conch. Then the crowd arrived.
It seems this is where everybody eats. I highly reccomend it.
Plans are still uncertain but am leaning toward Marsh Harbor unless
something better comes up.
Am finally getting to use our wind scoop I have had for years.
Before getting drafted I spent quite a few months in the Bahamas working for the
US Coast and Geodetic Survey. Probably my favorite dish was conch chowder. Great
stuff.
