OK, my sailboat can go about 6 kts and while that is fast sailing, if
you go for days at 56 kts, it is Sl-o-o-o-o-ow. *Trawlers can go 8-9
kts. *Do trawlers owners think that is slow? *If you could go 15 kts
for days, would that be slow?
What I am asking is: *Am I likely to be impatient no matter how fast a
boat goes? *Would your expectations of where you can go increase as
your boat speed does? *How many people think their power boats are too
slow?

With 150 horses pushing my little 18'er, the speed is plenty fast enough.

Have you checked your speed with a GPS, John? *What do you get with the
150? *How many RPMs do you have at WOT?

If you are maxing out just short of 6,000 RPMs, I'd guess you would see
the low 50's on a calm day?

I've not yet tried it at WOT, so I can't answer that. Next time I'm out I'll
give it a shot and let you know, if my head doesn't blow off my shoulders.

47 mph or so with two aboard, full fuel, two batteries and usual gear.
Soon as you get 20 hours on that motor, you can give it a try.

Mine's faster and I'll bet a good amount that I use less fuel than you.

I was guesstimating the WOT speed of Herring's unused boat, Loogy for
Brains. My Parker is three feet longer than herring's boat, is much
deeper, is a deep vee and weighs at least 1000 pounds more. At WOT, the
Parker runs 40 mph, but I've only run WOT a couple of times. I have no
desire or need to run over the water at that speed.

As for your claim about your boat, well, I doubt you have a boat and if
you do, you never use it...and therefore your fuel use has to be less, eh?

Pssst, my boat was out last weekend. Was yours? OH, and the boat you
owned before this one only had 25 hours on it according to you. And
again, you can "doubt" all you want, but you're doing so in ignorance,
you know nothing about the boats I have, and how much I use them.
