I have never been called for a criminal trial but one time I got
called for a malpractice case. They asked me how I felt about torts. I
was under oath, what else could I say. I said
"Lawyers doctors and Insurance Companies are a financial perpetual
motion machine that raises the cost of everything we buy and restricts
everything we do."
I was out in the car a few minutes later. There was a motion to pull
in a new jury pool as I was leaving.
It probably had to do with the number of people either nodding or
laughing and clapping.
I haven't been called back.
Thanks for not lying. Another way to get out of jury duty is to compliment
one or the other attorneys about their clothes, e.g., a tie.
