Got to play with one at the local Apple store...

Very slick if you are a major league consumer of on-line media and
apps...which I am not.

I think they're totally cool. I think I'm going to get one for a b-day
present... don't want the 3G model, just wireless. I've already put in
my
request for the max memory version.

They are very cool indeed, but I'm hard pressed to think of what I would
use one for. Hell, I don't even have an iphone...just a plain old cell
phone.

I would use it for movies and pictures. It has a microphone, so I think
you
could use it with Skype... not sure about this.

Amazon has written an app that makes Amazon's library available to the
iPad.

Think about all the content that's populating the web. You Tube can
now deliver HD that's stunning. ESPN has rebranded it's ESPN360 and
ESPN 3. Two channels on television, the third on the web.

That's why Comcast is making the play for NBC/Universal. Content is
going to be everywhere...

I'd opt for the 3G when it comes out, unless you're not in a 3G area.
You're smart to go for the max memory.

If I take the 3G, then I have to have another subscription. I almost always
have wireless... and I have my phone for the ATT network.

Maybe you'll be able to buy it ad hoc, whenever necessary. I'd just
get it for flexibility. I suppose if it's just a home toy, 3G may
never be necessary. Your iPhone is plenty good at gathering info
while on the road.

The only thing lacking in the iPad is the ability to play flash, which
is pretty critical if you're using it to surf/playback video.

Flash is getting to be very resource intensive and Jobs is hoping to
push everyone towards HTML 5 but the reality is that he'll have to
find a way to support flash unless he wants to limit iPad's utility.
