That was when most outboards were 2 strokes and fairly primitive
designs at that.
I bet the new 4 stroke outboards do as well or better than an inboard
if the inboard is not using the same kind of computer EFI. Even then
you still have a weight penalty.


I would be going 4 stoke for sure, want range and fuel mileage not power
out of the hole. I can always put a 5 hp kicker for trolling.

I plan on using it for inland fishing. Plan on towing it with the
truck. Lake of the Woods and Rainy river will be the biggest water it sees.
