When is your first voyage?

I have walked out the back of Starlifters, Hercs, Caribous, Hueys, Sea
Knights from altitudes of 3,000 to 20,000 feet including a civilian
jump out of a hot air balloon.

There is no way in hell I would take a ride tied to a hundred or so
helium filled balloons. :)

I agree the ride from 0 to 500 ft AGL and from 500 ft AGL to 0 are the
most dangerous. Above 500 ft you can always cutaway the ballons and pop
a reserve chute. Just pray you don't get a bag lock, line over or line
twists.

I love the Caribous. We were going up to 13,500 once and we popped a jug
on the right engine. They feathered the prop and shut down the right
engine and we just kept climbing on the left engine. We were a three
plane formation with another Caribou and a CASA-212 trying for a VA
state record 100 way back in the early 90's at West Point VA.
