Back in the 1960's we would buy a dozen McD burgers at 15 cents each. Take
them back to where we worked on our race cars and lived and toss a1/2-2/3 of
the buns and stack the extra paddies on the remaining buns. Made a decent
burger then. $0.20 for a shake. Talk about inflation.
We had White Castle in Chicago before McD came around. 12 cents, and
tasty. I tried a McD when they opened one on my paper route. 1959 or
1960. 79th and Phillips.
Cardboard. Felt I was ripped off 3 cents. Didn't try your trick
about throwing away the buns. Sinful in my family.
Still prefer White Castle. Pretty much has to be an emergency to get
me in McD.
Tried the shake too. Phony. I could get a real ice cream malt for 30
cents. Even then the extra dime was worth it.
After Charlie Manson, McD is probably the worse thing wrought by
California.
But that's off the cuff. I'm sure there's more.
