McDonalds is no longer a valid representation of "cheap in comparison".
The other night we ordered two burgers and two fries, it came to 12
dollars. For the price of a meal (with desert) at McDonalds, now you can
sit down at several local establishments for a nice fresh cooked meal...

You have to learn to use their 'dollar menu' and drink 'senior
coffee'. Four chicken sandwiches and a cup of coffee for less than
five bucks. Take the chicken off two of the sandwiches, put it on the
other two. Now you've got two 'good' chicken sandwiches and a cup of
coffee for five bucks. Cheap.

Not that I would ever do that, of course.

Back in the 1960's we would buy a dozen McD burgers at 15 cents each. Take
them back to where we worked on our race cars and lived and toss a1/2-2/3 of
the buns and stack the extra paddies on the remaining buns. Made a decent
burger then. $0.20 for a shake. Talk about inflation.
