Getting a little cold here. 16 for a low, and snow forecast for tomorrow.
Be glad when all this Christmas crap is done, and the weather starts to
warm
up a little. Went up to the cabin today to check on a break in.
Snowshoed
half a mile in 19 degree balminess. Window was only removed, nothing
taken.

Nothing there of value to take. Yard sale furnished, and we never leave
any
guns or money or jewelry. So, we put signs out stating that.

Ready to start some boat mods, and upholstery, woodwork, and carpeting.

Damn, that's chilly. Glad nothing was taken. My SIL's car was broken
into in front of his house night before last. Lost his IPOD.

It's snowing like a big dog there as we speak. Two to four feet expected.
We got in just in time. I live at 3900', and there's a lot of snow in the
adjacent mountains at 5,000' elev. Cabin is at 7500. We just made it.

The "thieves" (real pros) pried the sliding section of the window up. There
are two marks on the bottom rail. There was one of those screw clamps on
it, and the little lever lock was engaged. So much for security. But, they
WERE pros, and did not even break the glass. They DID trash the screen, but
those are cheap. We just slid the window back in and locked it AGAIN. The
window was sitting on the bench seat for the dining table, pretty as you
please. Amateurs would have smashed the window. We did have fun carrying a
full sheet of 1/2" plywood 1/4 mile uphill through a foot of snow, though.

Doors were opened, but locked tool cabinet was not pried open. We left
signs on the outside, "NO GUNS, MONEY, OR JEWELRY INSIDE" AND "YARD SALE
INTERIOR DESIGN, SAVE YOUR TIME".

Guess I'm lucky. It could have been much worse.
