Grew up and spent the first 19 years of my life directly opposite this
building. My best buddies dad was the caretaker there for all that time. I
remember embarrassing my dad into buying our first B&W TV back in 1956 by
standing outside the caretaker basement window trying to get a glimpse of
Howdy Doody.
Our first (and only until 1961) TV station opened the year before.
I remember helping my buddy and his brother clear out the garbage chute (no
vinyl garbage bags then).
We were always sure to see lots of maggotts in the summertime but one
mid-life tennant used to gross the guys out by throwing her used Kotex Pads
loose down the chute waiting to be shovelled up into galvanized garbage
cans. Those were the days.

Nowadays, if you want to see maggots all year around, just log into
rec.boats and check out the postings of herring, rob, dk, justhate, et
cetera... :)
