In the US a few years ago, a fifteen or so girl tried to be the
youngest to fly a plane to all 48 states. She, the licenced instructor
along to make it legal, and her father all died when they gambled with
the weather. I don't understand this compulsion to be the least
qualified to do something. Can't say I care for doing risky things
just to impress Guiness, for that matter. They died trying to be the
subject of barroom bets.

A minor factoid:
It seems that being "recognized by Guinness" is not exactly a simple
or painless process. There is a Buddhist Monk in Phuket, Thailand, who
is possibly the oldest man in the world. There was an article in the
local paper about the Temple members trying to get this accredited by
Guinness. Apparently it is a matter of surveyors being flown out,
stay in Thailand, translation and interpreting costs, etc. Said to be
a substantial cost.

Apparently the feats listed in Guinness are not the records but rather
the records of those who could afford to have them documented.
