We went fishing today after working stringing wire and conduit and boxes
in my container. Weather was bluebird clear until 30 minutes before we
left.

Put out on the lake, and my new rewiring was all correct. Truck lights
and boat lights all worked properly. New modifications in side the boat
did good, too. GPS mount, anchor stowage supersized cleats, lots of
little things that were dragging. New battery box with external lugs.

The boat fired right up, after starting hard last week because I had not
run the gas out of the carbs, and it varnished up. We went fishing, and
caught a limit of eight chunky rainbows that all were right at 16". They
were hitting and hitting hard.

Took it out of the fishing area past No Wake buoys, and made two long
fast 35mph passes, and it ran like a clock. Launch and recovery was
easy, as I had an intelligent assistant. Was able to determine where I
want to put new rollers, bunks, and guides by looking at the trailer with
the boat off, and observing it during launch/recovery. Turned into a
gray dull day. Right at sunset, the clouds broke, and there was a
beautiful gold and purple sunset. We caught two trout in about two hours,
then with the sunset, caught six in about twenty minutes.

It's getting there. Using the boat sure is the best way to figure out
how to improve things, and what you really want in your configuration.
Hope to go fishing weekly, except for if it is really cold. Going to try
to figure out the crappie on this lake. Looks like we're consistently
hitting good strings of nice sized rainbows.

Only idiots and those with a deathwish are out on the water here. High
winds, 22.5' swells. Already 3 fatalities. 2 in a 20' boat died, after
it flipped crabbing. Swells were not as high then, but both died. 70 year
old man and wife. One guy died of exposure after being found and pulled
from the ocean at Halfmoon Bay. 33' sailboat got knocked down coming
through the reef channel and he fell off. Was wearing a PFD, but the
water is only about 48.5 degrees. Other person on boat, survived.

Water in our lake is down about 25'. The underwater hazards are all now
above water, the buoys laying on the rocks. Word is out that the lake is
down and fishing is terrible. hehehe. I have a couple of good friends that
I tell I'm catching and catching good. They are amazed and tell me how
terrible it is over there.

We have a small lake. But, we are not immune to stupidity, either from our
own mistakes or stupid others. So, we just take the right gear, watch the
basics, and deal with the bumps in the roads from there.

I've been in enough big water in my life. Been in hurricanes at sea.
Boating is a lot of fun when the weather is good, or you're equipped. But
there's huge differences between our waters and big water. But, the water
is cold just the same, and falling overboard, as well as other incidents
common to any sized body of water will ruin any trip.
