Well, clearcoating a boat hull was a new one on me. The boat owner said
the clearcoat would keep the boat from fading for many years.

Any *actual* boaters hear about this...?

Gelcoat is a hell of a lot tougher than clear coat. I wonder how
it'll wear after several years weather. You can remove wax and polish
the gelcoat. Clearcoat is permanent.

Did he wax the clearcoat like you'd do a car?


I didn't get a chance to ask him...the guy shrinkwrapping my Parker was
finishing up and I went back to write his check.

Clearcoat will break down after a long while, and then you can use a paint
remover to get it off, or like my aluminum boat and lots of the other
Northwest boats, you sand it off. I am in the process of getting bids to
redo the zolotone with clearcoat on the top side of my boat.
