Speaking of corporate culture.
Just had lunch with a buddy from the major insurance company I retired
from. I mentioned before they just finished a round of layoffs.
Layoffs not to reduce staff, but to offshore jobs.
Everybody got an celebratory e-mail from a bigwig this week.
Basically said, "Good News! - we are happy to announce there will be
no more layoffs in 2009"
Incredibly stupid.
Then the dimwit department head repeated it in a dept meeting.
My friend, an Obama supporter, and not a shrinking violet, asked the
dept head how the company justified sending jobs overseas when the
American economy is in dire straits.
The answer: "Everybody is doing it."
Thought I heard Obama say he was going to fix that type of thing.
Mentioned it specifically.
I guess with all the Wall Streeters surrounding him, he plumb forgot.
Hard times a'coming, and no American leader at the helm.
If Obama don't get his ass off the golf course and away from those CEO
foursomes, Sarah Palin might be the president in 2013.
