Almost unbelievable for around here...

According to the article, there's a slightly larger breed than in other
places. We certainly have the normal-sized coyote around here. They look
sort of like scruffy dogs, but not quite a dog. The only thing that scares
me about them is that they might go after a local dog. My cat just goes up
a tree and hisses. Sometimes they come in the back when I'm in the hottub,
but they split as soon as I turn on a light. I saw one once on the freeway
entrance ramp during the day, but it looked like it was sick or injured.
The biggest problems we have are with local black bears (mostly the scare
factor) and raccoons that get into everything, including the house once.

I stopped to let a couple cross the road 6 or 7 years ago coming back from a
local yacht squadron.
The lead one was quite big...like a large German Shephard but with a longer
body. He looked a lot like that Wiley Coyote character in the cartoons.
It would be quite scary to run into an aggressive one in the wilderness.
