Default WARNING, BOATING QUESTION

I'm getting ready to do some clean up work on my aluminum Lund. I want to
clean and polish some of the exposed aluminum, and afterward, spray it
with some kind of protectorant that will let it shine, and not dull. Is
there such a thing, or should I just paint it? And if I do paint it, what
type of paint should I use so it won't sluff off any time soon, and remain
the shiny color of the paint?

Flitz to polish the aluminum. There is also a cleaner and clearcCoat stuff.
Can not think of the name at the moment. As to paint, most automotive paint
works well. Just need to prime via Alodine or Ainc Cromate. My alum boat
is painted, but there are rock chips from towing and some scrapes from stuff
in the water.
