It isn't working.
Your instincts are overpowering your common sense. You need to try
harder.

Why are you obsessed with pigeons?
Pigeons are gods creatures after all.

They're still filthy little beasts... full of mites. Makes me shiver. Are
mosquitoes God's creatures? I suppose so, but he should have rethought
that
one!

The environmentalist in me says;
Mosquitoes are an important part of the food chain. They get protein
from the shore, back into the water and feed the small fish that the
big fish eat.
All that said I hate them too.
I can usually keep them somewhat abated with special care to drainage,
landscaping and avoiding any containers of water around the house but
we do have 2500 sq ft of the yard screened in so we still have a safe
way to go outside when they are bad

They'll be out in force in the next month or so... not around in the winter,
then they come back in spring. Some live in the bark of the trees. I have
screening too, but mostly you just keep moving. I like being outside when
the weather is nice, and it would be impossible to locate all the sources of
standing water on the property (and my neighbors').
