The only question I have is why do you think getting the government
involved will make that any cheaper or better?
These are the same people who bought the $600 toilet seats and the
$300 hammer. Maybe if you could shoot all the lobbyists and lawyers it
might work
but you would still have all those gold bricking congressmen trying to
get more federal bucks into their district.
The government is already involved (regulations and Medicare) and as for
my opinion, the government can do a pretty good job sometimes.
The insurance industry seems to be an unnecessary step in health care.
Why do we expect them to make a profit? What would happen if they
didn't exist?
capitalism is wonderful, but we don't expect the library or the fire
department to make a profit. Maybe health care is a service.
The founder of Craigslist went to talk to Wall Street a couple of years
ago. One of them asked Craig how he intended to "maximize his profit
stream." Craig told them he wasn't going to.
"I'm running a service, not a business." Maybe that is a good model for
a health care system.
Smart man, Craig.
It's the aerospace industry that brought you the $600 toilet seat and
the $300 hammer. Interestingly, carpenters buy titanium hammers for
almost $300 all the time.
Got a link for a $300 titanium hammer?
