The Feds CREATED your water supply in 1933 out of a semi-arid desert.
Be happy with what the environment will support and don't feel
entitled to the impossible. You make this sound trivial, but it is
not. Recreational and commercial fishing in your state is based around
salmon. The delta smelt is the salmon's main source of food. Kill that
and you kill the state's fishing and fish-tourism revenues.
The problem isn't regulations, it is the lack thereof. You have too
many people vying for a very limited amount of resources. GROWTH is
what needs to be regulated.
We have the same thing going on in the East... in Georgia. Upstream
they build and build and build and build, then want to keep all of the
water flowing out of Georgia into Alabama and Florida for themselves,
instead of addressing their own lack of control on growth.
Maybe we really *should* do something about the millions of illegal
aliens. They probably impact the water supply also.
