I roll my own. *Putting install software on a partition isn't a good
idea unless they include instructions to write it to a CD/DVD.
Hard drives fail.
Don't know much about ethernet chips, but OS's do fail for never

I never get into that anymore because of my cloning strategy.
Problem with OS? *Restore from image.
That would have told the tale for your son. *If it didn't work you'd

Oh, absolutely!! The first thing I do is get my OS and drivers off of
the hard drive and onto CDs.

Wife says Warranty cost was $205. The did not provide an OS install
CD. In fact, for another roughly $100 they will sell you a restore
disc. They charged my son to "Clear the Registry" so he would not
have all the crap most store bought computers have. I do not know if
this is a scam r not but suddenly, all the crap is back. The place I
finally took it to for repair says they often see problems when a 2nd
AV program is loaded atop Norton when they fail to remove Norton.
The Warranty is sort of vague about software problems but ti does
cover "problems due to poor workmanship" and failure to install the
2nd AV properly should be covered under this. I doubt I'll see a
penny from BB.
