I *liked* Dick Nixon, especially in hindsight. He was smarter than all the
GOP presidents who followed him (with the exception of G. H.W. Bush), and
he had balls, too. Imagine another GOP president instituting wage-price
controls. Further in retirement, he worked hard to redeem himself and his
reputation by being a statesman. Interesting that the only U.S. presidents
who didn't do that after their terms were Reagan and George W. Bush.

Strangely, I liked Bob Dole. I watched some of the Clinton/Dole "debates" on
a TV program (60 minutes?). He was smart too.
