LOL! When I first looked at your link, it reminded me of Leadbelly;
but, I saw that Taj Mahal had done this song.


Actually, "Fishing Blues" was written originally by a guy named Henry
Thomas. There's not a lot known about him - no pictures and very
little is known about him personally. He predated some of the greats
of his time and is considered a "bridge" musician having been born in
1874 and passing on sometime in the '50s/early'60s.

That video I posted is a pretty fair representation of how Thomas
played - high capo, banjo strumming style and the pan pipes which
Thomas used all the time according to contemporary reports.
