amazing man from an amazing family

Truly. He was a true blue Old School Liberal Democrat and was fearless
and unrelenting in his support for progressive causes, but at the same
time pragmatic and a deal maker. *Most importantly, a gentleman.

I attend funerals of local service members who have died in our recent
conflicts. Four years ago, there was a Marine in Southbridge whose
family I knew who died in Iraq. It was a cold rainy day in November
and at the grave side ceremony I glanced around and there was Ted
Kennedy, standing all by himself with one aide, attending the burial
of a fallen Marine. *The only politician there.

I later found out that he attended every single funeral and grave side
ceremony for every military member from Massachusetts who died in Iraq
and Afghanistan. Always by himself accompanied by one aide.

That's leadership regardless of politics.

i didn't know that. thanks for the info...we have lost a giant.
