Default Chrysler 26 keel box

I dont think that the " leaking swing keel box problem" is unique to just the
chrysler 26. I purchaced a balboa 26 with a similar problem. It had sank at the
dock because its battery couldnt keep up with the bilge pump. I dropped the
keel & noticed that the pivot hole in the keelbox had been elongated from
constant abuse by the former owner. I totally rebuilt the pivot hole by
forcing epoxy into molds on either side of the box. As I am sensitive to just
what it takes to repair this problem,Im quite cautous in any water less than 10
feet. If you are adamant about running into rocks & sandbanks Id suggest
that you devise a shock absorber system into your keel winch.
