You're going to be sorley disappointed when we ride out a good blow.
Maybe I'll get the Princecraft out for some wave surfing.

How high are you ASL. That makes the biggest difference in these
things. You can survive the wind but the water will get you.

My house is about 160 feet above sea level.
The hugh mature trees in the backyard scare me.

I bet they do, dummy. Just be happy you don't have "huge" trees!

That's odd, he named all of his trees "Hugh"?

Hugh trees were named for botanist Sir Dudley Hugh. A rare mutation of
the chestnut, the blight wiped them out and they are all but
forgotten.

We bike on what is known locally as the American Chestnut Land Trust, a
spot of land originally established to protect a large chestnut tree.
The trust now has several thousand wooded acres.

There are efforts long underway in Maryland to try to grow American
chestnut trees, and there have been many efforts to try to clone a
blight-resistant variety. I remember a couple of chestnut trees in
fields behind where our house was in New Haven, and the pods in which
the chestnuts grew. I'm sure the trees are long-gone now. They were big,
beautiful trees with large leaves.
