Default Tachometer for an Atomic Four

I'm looking for a tach for my Catalina 27's Atomic (Universal) Four.

On E-bay I've found a Faria and a Searay. They both come with no
wiring, but have connections on the back for three leads, as well as a
switch for 4-6-8 cyl, and 12 point(?).

Question is, would these work with my engine? And, how are they hooked up?

Tachs for older engines were hooked to 12V, ground, and the
points, or to a spark plug, using a wire capacitive probe wrapped
around a spark plug wire. The switch selects the # of cylinders,
and that's about it. Everything was simpler and easier before
electronic hall sensors and computer controlled engines, even if
they were dirty and less reliable, at least you could fix them
with a hairpin and a wad of chewing gum.
