Default Drivin my neighbors crazy

My property abuts a denser development and that development has deed
restrictions such as not parking an RV in the yard and no
clotheslines, etc. Because this subdivision is literally right behind
our place, they often think we are subject to their rules. We've had
a few complaints over the years about gawdawful looking kids tree
forts and even a neighbor who tried to tell us not to hang clothes
outside to dry but hanging the muddy cave clothes from last weekends
trip was too much.
The clothesline which is not very visible from the adjacent property
is not strong enough to hang clothing heavy with a lot of mud so I
hung it all on the kids zip line across the yard. Now if he'd just
been nice about it and told me it was not the sort of thing he wanted
to see with his morning coffee, looking out his window at clothing
that looked as if it had been dipped in sewage, I'd have understood
but he tried to go all legalistic on me. He even threatened to have
the city mow my "wild area" of my property my kids use as a blackberry
patch
I was nice but pointed out that the city limit is literally our lot
line between us and I happen to live in an area of near anarchists who
cannot even agree to assess each other to maintain our road. All I
want to do is wait till a good thunderstorm washes the stuff cuz I
dont like running my well so much (He is on city water). I told him
I'd consider his view in the future but will not my mow my berry patch
and will sue for damages if anybody tries. So much for having
friendly neighbors.
