Are there any other S2 owners who have dealt with solving the problem
of failure of the mast step?
I just got an estimate for fixing my mast step problem. $2500 total
and they say it will pass inspection and look as good as new.
However, they say it will take a month, just at the time I like to
sail (in winter). Any thoughts on this cost for hauling, unstepping
and restepping the mast, replacing a bulkhead, a support and mahogony
block under the cabin sole?
This is on a 28' S2 (1981 vintage).
That doesn't seem too unreasonable, frankly. I've got to do a similar
job on Xan this winter and even with our simple layout and construction,
it's going to take a bunch of time and materials aren't cheap.
