ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man turned a gun on himself at an Orange County gun
range on Wednesday, prompting the range to change its gun rental
rules.

Investigators said the shooting happened at Rieg's Gun Range on South
Orange Blossom Trail. An employee found the victim, 43-year-old
Valentin Pepelea of Canada Day.

Employees said the victim was a regular at the range, and they never
had any problems with him.

Witnesses said Pepelea was shooting for a while before he turned the
weapon on himself at about 6:40 p.m. The incident at Rieg's was the
fourth shooting and third suicide at a gun range since April, when
Marie Moore killed her 20-year-old son before shooting herself at the
Shoot Straight Gun Range in Casselberry. Three weeks later, Jason
McCarthy, 26, rented a 9 mm gun from the same Shoot Straight and
killed himself.

A woman also shot herself in a suicide attempt at an east Orange
County gun range in June.

Good thing there's guns at those ranges, they'd have to stab
themselves to death otherwise.

Nope, they would jump off a bridge and maybe kill somebody on the boat going
under the bridge. Only boat to be hit by a jumper from the GGB was a
fishing party boat and the jumper hit the bow. Everybody was in the back of
the boat.
