Please don't go...
SurveyUSA poll conducted 6/24/09, 500 adults in south carolina:
* Overall, 60% think Sanford should resign
* Among GOPs, 48% say resign, 47% say stay in office.
* Among conservatives, 55% favor resignation
* Among independents, 61% favor resignation
* Among Democrats, 74% favor resignation
* Among women, 64% favor resignation
According to dailyKOS, the poll shows that the big issue for voters
isn't that Sanford had an affair, it's that he went AWOL.
On the question of whether Sanford had the right "to take a vacation
without information the public of his absence," 63% said no, while 29%
said yes. Even Republicans thought Sanford was wrong by a 54% to 36% margin.
On the question of whether he had the right "to take a vacation without
information his staff of his location," a whopping 77% said no, and just
16% said yes. 73% of Republicans thought Sanford was wrong.
Keep in mind that these numbers don't take into account the revelation
that Sanford not only saw his lover during a taxpayer-funded trade
mission to Argentina, but that the trade mission consisted of meetings
focusing on the agribusiness industry -- the very same industry in which
Sanford's lover was employed.
