I'm going to replace the seats on my 18 ' Wellcraft.
I can find nice seats on line at Overtons, com and other places. The
only problem is I can't find jump seats that fit. The lounge type
seats (back to back) are perfect for around $200 each but the jump
seats that face forwared in the back are too narrow. My exsisting
seats are 18 inches wide and all the jump seats I find are only 15
inches or so. Because the seats sit next to the engine conpartment
they need to fit correctly.
Do anyone know of a supplier of WIDE jump seats hopefully with
matching lounge seats as well.
Overtons does sell the matching fabric so I could re-upholster the
existing jump seats but I would have to make new bases and backs for
them because the existing pieces have a lot of wood rot!!!
Any advice on wood to use for the bases? or a wood treatment to
prevent rot?
Thanks
KM
I can't help with the seats but I would certainly not use real wood
these days. There are too many good plastic products like Aztek and
Trex that work like wood with regular woodworking tools.
The base of my console (home made glass over plywood) started going
bad right at the base. I cut 5" of it off, resealed the bottom and
made a 1x6 (5.5") ring out of recycled plastic deck board with a 1/2"
rabbet to carry the old console. It looks like it will last forever.

Epoxy does a good job of jointing this stuff together if you need
wider pieces. They make it in tongue and groove and when you epoxy
that I am not sure how you would break it..- Hide quoted text -
