WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday passed a resolution
apologizing to African-Americans for the wrongs of slavery.
While this is a symbolic gesture, maybe it will be meaningful to
some. The real apology for slavery is equal opportunity regardless of
race, creed, sex or national origin. I think MLK Jr. said it best
when he said " I have a dream that my four little children will one
day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of
their skin but by the content of their character. "

Race relations in the US is not perfect, but we have some a long way.

This Newsgroup post is a natural product. The slight variations in
spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and
in no way are to be considered flaws or defects

I wonder if Harry knows that there were Black slave owners also.

Donny wants to give all the slackers a leg up. They would quickly spend
Donny's stimulus package and and end up back in the same place they started
from. There is a similar plan being implemented as we speak. The results
will be the same. The only difference is we'll be left wondering; Where did
all our money disappear to?
Gee, Bilious, what percentage of slave owners in the USA were black?
And why would you think I would want any different treatment for them?

Actually only 24% of NC owned slaves. How about reparations for my
family. My great grandfather walked with a limp from a Confederate
bullet wound. How many people alive now, were slaves in the South? How
much has it impacted them? My Great grandfather was Irish immigrant.
Seemed like they had some discrimination also.

Beat & simplest thing to do...the US govt should confiscate all property
& wealth from all it's citizens and then give every citizen an equal
share of the pot.
What happens after that would be soley based on the ambition,
resourcefulness or luck of each individual.

Well, start with that in Canada and let's see out it works out.
