WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday passed a resolution
apologizing to African-Americans for the wrongs of slavery.
While this is a symbolic gesture, maybe it will be meaningful to some.
The real apology for slavery is equal opportunity regardless of race,
creed, sex or national origin. I think MLK Jr. said it best when he
said " I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in
a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by
the content of their character. "

Race relations in the US is not perfect, but we have some a long way.

This Newsgroup post is a natural product. The slight variations in
spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in
no way are to be considered flaws or defects

I wonder if Harry knows that there were Black slave owners also.

Gee, Bilious, what percentage of slave owners in the USA were black?
And why would you think I would want any different treatment for them?

Actually only 24% of NC owned slaves. How about reparations for my family.
My great grandfather walked with a limp from a Confederate bullet wound.
How many people alive now, were slaves in the South? How much has it
impacted them? My Great grandfather was Irish immigrant. Seemed like they
had some discrimination also.
