Hey Bruce

Decent article on chartering in the Gulf of Thailand in the Ko Chang
Archipelago in May's "Sailing Today"

That far from where you wander about? Writer gave it a top wrap.

What's that Chang beer like?

"Ko Chang" (Ko means Island, Chang means elephant) is a group of
islands nearly to Cambodia. I've never been there but looking at the
chart it is one big island some smaller islets and some rocks.

Frankly, I wouldn't recommend anywhere in the gulf, but that is
somewhat tainted with my own prejudices. Of course, the wind seasons
are reversed there with pretty good N.E. Monsoon winds in the dry
season and less in the S.W. rainy season.

On the other hand, there are only a few groups of islands unlike the
west side of the country where there are islands all the way from the
Burmese border to Malaysia. But of course, the west side has very
light winds during the dry season and miserable squalls and
thunderstorms during the wet.

I'm not a beer drinker so I can't comment on Chiang Beer's quality but
when it was introduced it was sold at about half the price of the
other two Thai beers - Singha and Amarit. It is now, I believe, the
largest selling beer in Thailand, and still cheap, although no longer
the cheapest.

Cheers,

Bruce

Thanks for that.
BTW, I do like a Singha or three.
