I've heard of the mounties. I thought they patrolled manly places like
the mountains and forests. I didn't think they patrolled fish camps like
Halifax.

The Mounties' name reflects its history. The organization is the federal
police force of Canada. The U.S. Army still has units named for their
calvary forebears, but I doubt they go into battle on horseback. Neither
do the Mounties, although I bet the group still has horses.
