Only in Virginia eh?
It does remind me of when I lived out in the suburbs in a Cape Cod I built
with my own hands.
The lots were fairly long but only 80 feet wide.
I had seen a rat at the bird/squirrel feeder in the back yard so I decided
to blast it with my 22 cal semi-auto rifle from the 2nd story bathroom
window.
Didn't notice until after I plugged the vermin a couple of times that the
neighbours were out in the backyard two houses over.
I imagine I shocked them...lucky they didn't call the Mounties.
Rats seem attracted to bird feeders!
About two years ago my wife came screaming in from the garage. Said
she opened the door and saw three rats. I thought, "Yeah, right.
Probably a mouse."
A couple days later I look under the bird feeders and see what I
though were three squirrels - until I noticed the lack of hair on
their tales. Apparently, they really like the sunflower seeds knocked
on the ground by the birds.
The exterminators put down some bait stations, which quickly solved
the rat problem. I also greatly reduced the squirrel population in the
backyard.
