What about sharks? They must view the fish caught on long lines as a

Many of the sharks I've encountered leave the fish's head on the hook.
And when they do eat the whole fish, they simultaneously bite through
the line like a hot knife through butter. All the shark fishing rigs
I know of use a long length of steel leader. Is steel what a long line
is made of??

The longliner I looked at had fifty miles of 700 lb mono, and the
leaders were mono as well, as far as I know: there were none in
evidence when I looked at the boat.
