A star to the Colorado Springs Gazette.

And to many other liberals. But, guess what -
"The leader of a statewide veterans group who fought for homeless
veterans in Colorado Springs is in jail in Denver today, unmasked as a
former mental patient who posed as a wounded Marine officer and 9/11
survivor.
The man who called himself Rick Duncan - purportedly a former Marine
captain and 1997 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy - is in fact
31-year-old Richard Glen Strandlof, a former mental patient who never
served in the military and falsely claimed that he was in the Pentagon
during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to David Walsh
of the Colorado Veterans Alliance (CVA), which Duncan founded."

Lots of other interesting factoids about the fake Marine there. You'll
note the YouTube references were deleted. Wonder why?
However, a few of his YouTube shots remain.

You gotta love them liberals.

The only thing I can see that could be considered as liberal is his
fighting
for homeless vets? Is that what irks you? What an asshole.
Mental illness, lying and pretending to be something you're not is just
as
prevalent in the ridiculous right as it is in the limp left.

What probably is the most irking feature, is that he's doing it under
a false pretense. Is he using his fake service to supposedly get into
some arena's? if that's so, then when his deception is uncovered he
looses out a lot of credibility

why live a lie to do a good work?

Good point, probably has a lot to do with the mental illness for him to
carry his charade that far. There are plenty of fakes out there without
mental problems. I've been around a few. Some people seem to inherit
others war stories as thier own.
If this guy is actually making something happen for homeless vets, I'd
cut him a lot of slack.
My point was should liberals have a corner on empathy, especially for
this specific group of people? Is this below republicans or untouchable
because it doesn't fit the "I got mine, so f*&k everyone else" mantra?

Fraud is fraud. Do the means justify the ends?

Would you tech your kids to do whatever they want to do with the hope that
everything will work out for the best in the end?

_
No, I've taught my kid that we are answerable for our actions, and for our
inactions.
My complaint, from my first response in this string, is that helping those
who can't help themselves is apparently considered "liberal" (as a slur),
even when those that can't help themselves are US Military Veterans, many
from the Vietnam and Gulf wars and now from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
I wasn't justifying any fakes, just saying that this guy was doing good
things for OUR (yours and mine) FELLOW VETS, and I cut him a lot of slack
for that.
