As others have noted, this is a thermoelectric cooler so really doesn't get that cold. However- it DOES get cold enough for form ice on the cooling unit. If your fan is noisy, it may be due to it striking the ice. If you remove the plastic shield over the fan (four screws) you can see it. It is actually a large PC case fan! You can see ice buildup. Just defrost by turning it off, put a towel in the bottom to collect the water. You'll get some performance back, but it will still be lame, just less lame.
This "Refrigerator" does NOT refrigerate in the traditional way. It uses a thermoelectric cooler. It's internal temperature is based upon the outside ambient temperature. Most models (of this type) will typically lower the temperature inside by 25-40 degrees. So looking at extremes, if the unit is in an 80 degree environment, you can expect (average) to see inside temperature about 50 degrees. Refrigerated foods should be kept at about 40 degrees or lower to prevent spoilage. This unit is more to keep your lunch cool (at the office) before you eat or to keep some beverages cool (in the shop). If you want an actual refrigerator, then make sure you get one with a compressor and refrigerant in it to get the better performance. Of course that will likely mean an increase in price. My unit works wonderful and is exactly what I expected. To those who had a bad experience, either you have a defective device, or you don't understand the technology that you bought. Caveat Emptor.
Does not work well at all. Goes from being room temperture to somewhat cold sporadically.Very poor buy
Calling this a "refrigerator" is plain deceptive advertising. The listings and the packaging call it this. But read the manual in the box, and you'll learn that they call it a "cooler" and that the other reviews here are true: on its "maximum" setting, it will keep things 20-25 degrees cooler than room temperature. In a 75-degree room, that's 50 if you're lucky, so don't put anything perishable in there, or plan to spend some time in the ER with food poisoning!
If this fridge kept things COLD I would have liked it...but then again that is pretty much all I am looking for in a mini-fridge...therefore not a good fridge at all. I bought it for like 70 bucks and had to sell it for 20 because it sucked. At least I got something back right?
