Does anyone have experience cruising to Wildwood, NJ? Do you make

Yes, use Cold Spring Harbor (a.k.a. Cape May) Inlet. Some local boats use
Hereford Inlet, but this is not _at_all_ recommended for strangers or boats
with significant draft. I think Steve Shelikoff (sp?) knows this inlet
well.

I know Cape May inlet well. I just went into it last Friday evening.
Conditions were rough, with 40kt winds from the ENE, a 3kt current from
the the NE and a confused chop of 8-12 ft. at the inlet entrance. And
with all that, it was still not that difficult to get in. A little
exciting and bouncy, but it's a very nice inlet with long protective
jetties. Once you're in, you can go under the drawbridge to the right
to get up to Wildwood. I usually don't do that though, so I don't know
what the conditions are like up that way. I usually just pass through
Cape May as a way to get from the Delaware Bay to the Jersey coast
without having to round the point, which can get very rough.

On the other hand, I won't go into Hereford if I can at all avoid it.
I've listened on the VHF to enough boats grounding there and getting
pounded by the surf.
