I had a motorhome. I changed from two twelve volt batteries to two six
volt batteries. The performance differences were phenomenal, the two
sixes being much better. Can I expect the same in a boat?

Maybe our stinky expert from Floriduh can help.

Yes, I can help you Donny. Don't poke at a hornets nest unless you want to
get stung.

I'm the one that asked the question. Could you please help me?

Hi Steve,
6v golf car batteries are used extensively in RVs. They seem to have
better reserve capacity than 12V batteries. Cranking amps would be a
factor if you are going to use them for a starting battery. Just about
any battery can turn over a 4 cylinder engine. But they might not be
suited to turn over a big block.

Personally, if I had room for 3 batteries I'd go with 1 12V cranking
battery and 2 6V golf car batteries for the house or trolling motor.

If you have only room for two, I'd stick with 2 12V batteries. One or
both of them could be Marine combo type batteries.
