What's a good type of rope for 100' of fresh water anchor line, 15# anchor?

How big a boat and what kind of anchor?

3/8", 150' or so would be more than sufficient. Braid is expensive, so
a standard three strand nylon. You might want to consider 4/6 foot of
chain on the anchor end depending on wind conditions where you boat -
the chain helps set the anchor and keeps the anchor from being pulled
free in normal conditions.

Every fifteen feet, use a colored thread - red for fifteen, blue for
30, etc. That way you have a clue as to how much you have paid out
while anchoring.
