It is amazing how many different systems of belief you can base on one
text. People forget it was intended to be the Church of England's
private little book. It's greatness as literature must partly account
for it's widespread popularity. How you can take every word literally
is beyond me. The bible was written in Greek after all. My grandmother
could have read the original texts, but didn't. Four years of Greek
and Latin, Phi Beta Kappa at that, and never read a word of either
after graduation. Those keys are for winding a pocket watch by the
way. You carry both on the same chain.

The new testament was written in Greek. It is only part of what these
days is considered "the bible". Most of the Jewish bible was written in
Hebrew and Aramaic.

My personal view of the KJ bible is that it is a remarkable work of
poetic literature.
