Being military trained, give me a rife (50cal) and the pirates would
get one chance not to get within a 1000 yard range. I can't see

hard this is, yes I saw the news reports were the ships carry oil

other flamable material and worry about fire arms aboard ship , but

your going in area waters where this has happened 50 times this

Yes I'm more then willing to join a crew at this time just to deal
with this problem.

Major problems with firearms on commercial vessels trying to get in
and out of port without extensive delays for firm arm inspections,
approvals, etc.

OTOH, a couple of 1,000 HP Cummins diesels hooked up to fore and aft
located fire pumps with 1,500 GPM output thru a 6"-8" nozzle is a
whole "nuther" kettle of fish.
