One thing that is not generally known is that SGC STOLE and Duplicated
the SEA 1612B Autotuner design from SEA and that was and is the basis
of all their autotune products. This was so blatant that they didn't
even remove the Copyright Notice burned into the Prom. I know the guy's
who did the original design work for SEA and reverse engineered the
design from the Motorola HF Autotune Coupler, that Bill Shilb took
with him when he left Motorola, and came out west to Seattle. The SEA
Guy's completely rewrote the code that tunes the system and added a bunch
of new features to make it actually work. I was an "Origianl Beta
Tester" for the SEA Tuner Products starting with the SEA1602 and I did
much of the testing on each suscessive model that followed. I worked
with all the SEA Engineers, back when we all worked at Northern Radio
Company before it went out of business, and they went on to start SEA.
The SGC fellows, mostly can't design their way out of a "Wet Paper Bag"
when compared to SEA, Icom, or any quality Design Group.
