Hi everyone,

I need a replacement foredeck hatch for my 1963 28 foot Owens. It's
the type that is metal, round with glass in it and has 3 arms
protecting the glass. I dropped the anchor on it, bent 2 arms and
fractured the glass which now leaks. The boat is a full restoration so
I would prefer an exact replacement if possible. If you know of one,
or of a boat being parted out or of any other soure, please let me
know. I think the hatches were all the same on these boats over a
period of 6 years, so my chances of finding one aren't too remote.
Just remove INVALID from the email address to reply. I live in
southern Florida so if you are in the area I can drive over to pick it
up. Thanks,

Ron Wilson

Replace it with this. Only 75 dollars on Ebay.

It would look real nice on your garbage scow.

There's always a wise guy in the crowd and I guess you are him. I
bought my boat 8 years ago, she was in pretty bad shape. Fortunately,
the wood was in pretty good shape. I stripped her down completely and
replaced or restored everything over a period of 4 years. I must have
put in over 2,000 hours of work into her, it payed in satisfaction and
not in dollars. In 2005 I fired up the new Chevy 327 in her and took
her out for the first of a series of sea trials. No leaks, just a few
things shaking loose. I'm sure if you could see her you would regret
your Mickey Mouse toilet seat comments. If you find a hatch let me
know, I'll buy you a new toilet seat.

And there's always a jerk in every crowd who thinks IDLE SPEED/NO WAKE zones
don't apply to him and his big wake producing boat. Nobody else really cares
about your project boat. What people like to see is a responsible boater who
obeys the law. And get some water lift mufflers on that thing. It makes
enough noise to wake up the dead.
