With a few exceptions, there is no comparison of a Peavey amp to a Fender

Peavey makes so-so guitar amps.
My opinion, of course.
If Fender was better I would have thought that Peavey could just copy
it. Few machined parts to figure out how to tool up for. I have wired
up a tube radio, when I was in the 6th grade. It ain't like trying to
copy an IC. There is always someone who is best, sometimes for less
dough, and its always known tech anyone that wants to can do well.
There are exceptions Of course there is the high end stereo amp that
has about fifty pounds of silver in the transformers. Some people are
nuts. The Russians still make all kinds of tubes, I understand.

I think you should re-read my post. I said in the $1k and under category.
Peavey makes some superb stage amps, but you aren't likely to find them in
someone's living room or garage practice area. In the price range I am
talking about I've yet to hear a Peavey that sounds as good as a Fender.
Not saying Peavey is bad, they just aren't as good. I have several. I
know.
Yes, the Russians are the primary supplier of tubes now, although you can
still get American made.
I just ordered a 13 tube set for a Hammond B3 organ. Most are Russian, but
a couple are RCA.
